SUBJECT:

First reading of an Ordinance to update sections Sec. 3.01.310 and 3.01.312 of the City Personnel Policies and Procedures related to Vacation accrual and paid Holidays -- Tadd Phillips, Human Resources & Organizational Development Director

ITEM SUMMARY:

As part of the City Council Workshop June 21, 2022 regarding recruiting and retention efforts, the following changes to HR Policies for Council review and approval are:

 

Vacation accruals for regular, full-time employees with less than four years of service will accrue vacation at a higher annual rate of 8 hours per month/12 days per year.

 

Holidays will be updated to add four observed holidays on Veterans’ Day, Presidents’ Day, Good Friday and Juneteenth. Personal holidays will be reduced from four to two and advanced to all employees at the beginning of the fiscal year.

 

Procedural changes to HR Policies will be reviewed by the City Manager.

FINANCIAL IMPACT:

Any impact considered within FY23 Budget.
