This ordinance formally re-establishes the City’s organizational hierarchy as required by City Charter for the fiscal year 2022 Annual Budget. The Tourism function and the Arts and Culture function are re-organized from the Library Department to the Economic Development Department. These changes were made in 2021 after the retirement of the Library Director. The changes align services and skill sets.
They FY2022 budget includes funding to restore the 3rd Assistant City Manager position. At such time that the position is filled, the City Manager may recommend re-organization and staff will consult on appropriate changes to this ordinance. The proposed Charter Election for the fall of 2021 proposes removing language referring to “Divisions”. Should the election pass, staff will consult on appropriate changes to this ordinance. Revised ordinances will be brought back to the City Council.
