The purpose of this memorandum is to clarify the language and intent of Section 4.2, within the Inter-Local Agreement for Fire Protection and Emergency Services Between the City of Georgetown and Williamson County Emergency Services No. 8, so that an appropriate and equitable cost is maintained.
The City and District have a long-standing partnership that was ratified through an Inter-local Agreement (ILA) on September 12, 2018. This agreement has an initial ten-year term that began on October 1, 2018 and automatic renewals occur in successive ten-year terms. In consideration of this long-term partnership, the City assumed responsibility for construction, operation, and maintenance of Fire Station 6. This is in addition to all other current and proposed fire stations that serve the City and District residents.
Since the inception of the agreement, the City and District meet annually to adjust the contract price so that an equitable cost allocation is maintained. This annual review includes consideration of external or internal variable that impact operations, funding, and/or statutory changes.
By approving this amendment, the City supports the District’s ability to use any unused portions of previous years one-fifth reserves towards future deficits.
