This item is returning due to the majority of the participating fire departments agreeing to alternate language for dispute resolution in relation to amendments to the operational guidelines of the agreement that was authorized by City Council on February 25, 2020. The language changes have been reviewed and are acceptable to the Georgetown Fire Department.
In order to enhance fire services within the region, Fire Chiefs within Travis and Williamson Counties have worked to provide technical and policy improvements to meet the demands of our customers. Fire Chiefs representing ESDs and Cites desire to augment resources and capabilities within the geographic boundaries of their respective service areas by responding and dispatching emergency calls on an automatic assistance basis so that the nearest available unit responds to the incidents specified in this agreement, regardless of the jurisdiction in which the incident occurs.
The Fire Chief recommends termination of the City’s participation in the existing agreement and the execution of a new Automatic Aid Agreement in accordance with the Texas Interlocal Cooperation Act, Chapter 791 of the Texas Government Code.
