SUBJECT:
Consideration and possible action to approve a mural easement agreement with Main & 7th LLC for a portion of Lot 2 and Lot 3, Block 39, ACRES 0.139 in the City of Georgetown, and located at 101 E 7th Street for the placement of public art -- Amanda Still, Arts and Culture Coordinator and Kim Mcauliffe, Downtown Development Manager.
ITEM SUMMARY:
The public art mural in the alleyway at 101 E 7th St is a Georgetown High School student designed and created mural, “Everyone Deserves Kindness”. The design was approved by the Arts and Culture Board pre-COVID, but the project was put on hold until safe to move forward. As the project now moves forward, it is unanimously supported by property owners on both sides of the alleyway, as well as the team of business owners located at 101 E 7th St. This mural will continue to grow on an annual basis as art students in GISD continue to add to the mural each year. Each addition to the mural will be in collaboration with the Georgetown Arts and Culture Program and the professional graphic designer that is part of the team of business owners. The project this year is lead by GHS art instructor and will be created and installed as a collaborative effort of her high school art students. The attached mural easement is part of the Georgetown Commercial Mural Design Guidelines and Process in place to allow property owners to install murals on their buildings.
