| | | | | | | | SUBJECT: Consideration and possible action to approve a Resolution ratifying the Disaster Declaration signed February 14, 2021 and consenting to its continuation for a period of more than seven days -- Jackson Daly, Community Services Director |
| | | | | | | | ITEM SUMMARY: On February 14, 2021, Mayor Josh Schroeder, acting in accordance with authority granted to him under Section 418.108(a) of the Texas Government Code and the City’s Home Rule Charter, declared a local state of disaster for the City due to concerns related to the severe winter weather conditions and the occurrence and imminent threat of widespread and severe damage, injury, and/or loss of life and property. Section 418.108(b) of the Texas Government Code provides that such a declaration of disaster may not be continued for a period of more than seven days exception with the consent of the City Council. At this time, the conditions necessitating the disaster declaration will continue to exist for a period of more than seven days. The attached Resolution would ratify the Mayor’s local disaster declaration and extend it until March 23, 2021 unless ended before then by the Mayor or further City Council action. |
