The City of Georgetown received a request from Jim Schwertner, Chairman of the TXDOT Aviation Advisory Board, requesting that the City Council consider renaming the Georgetown Airport to “Johnny Gantt Regional Airport” and the Georgetown Airport Terminal building to the “Buz Landry Terminal Building.”
Pursuant to the requirements of the City of Georgetown’s “Naming Policy for City Facilities, Public Park Lands, and Public Streets,” the City Council appointed Councilmembers Kevin Pitts and Steve Fought, City Manager, David Morgan, and Assistant City Managers, Laurie Brewer and Wayne Reed, to a committee to research, review, and study the recommendations and all its supporting documentation regarding this request.
The purpose of this meeting is to present the results from the public comment period which has concluded, as well as a review of the request to policy criteria.
In accordance with the Naming Policy, the City accepted public comments related to this request for thirty (30) days. Now that the public comment period has concluded, the committee will take into consideration all public comment when making a recommendation to the City Council regarding this request.
