SUBJECT:
First Reading of an Ordinance of the City Council of the City of Georgetown, Texas granting American Medical Response of Texas, Inc, a franchise to operate a medical transfer service -- John Sullivan, Fire Chief
ITEM SUMMARY:

The purpose of this agenda item is to grant a medical transfer service (MTS) franchise agreement extension in accordance to Chapter 2.29 of Georgetown Municipal Ordinance(s). To protect and promote the public health, safety, and welfare of Georgetown residents by ensuring continued medical transfer services, it is requested that the six-month notice requirement be waived.

Georgetown Fire Department has reviewed the application(s) and recommends approval.

Approval of this ordinance will allow the franchisee the following:

1. Non-exclusive privilege to provide a medical transfer service for the limited scope of Neonate Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and/or Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Response Team transport(s).

2. A three (3) year agreement with option three (3) year extension if request six (6) months prior to the expiration date of this agreement.

A copy of the Franchise Extension Ordinance Chapter 14.28 Article III has been included for your review and reference.

If approved, a second reading of this ordinance is tentatively schedule for September 24, 2019.

FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Franchise fee to cover costs associated with program oversight and enforcement.
