On February 8, 2019 the City issued request for proposals (RFP) No. 201919 for electric energy portfolio managed services.
The City is seeking consultant services to improve the capability of energy portfolio management by:
- Scheduling and settling energy in ERCOT
- Offloading excess power (hedging, trading, bi-lateral contracts)
- Reporting energy positions, exposure, and risk
- Forecasting and budgeting power costs
- Monitoring ERCOT transmission
The City received 12 proposals from the following firms:
- ACES
- Boston Energy
- Crescent Power, Inc.
- Demand Control 2, LLC
- EES Consulting, Inc.
- Garland Power & Light
- MP2 Energy LLC
- New Braunfels Utilities
- Schneider Engineering, Ltd.
- Shell Energy North America
- Tenaska Power Services
- Trailstone Power LLC
An evaluation team comprised of city management, finance and Georgetown Utility System staff, evaluated the proposals and narrowed the list of finalists through a scoring system. The three finalist are: Shell Energy North America, Boston Energy Trading and Marketing LLC, and Tenaska Power Service Company.
Once a single finalist is selected, city staff will negotiate a contract for electric energy portfolio managed services and bring the contract to the City Council for approval.
