This proposed project is to provide ADA/TDLR Compliant sidewalks and increase mobility. The project consist of an 8’ sidewalk along 7th street from the Southwestern University area to Myrtle St. This project also includes various sidewalk and curb ramp improvements along 8th, 6th, Ash, College and Walnut streets within 1-2 blocks off of 7th street. The project consists of constructing approximately 4700 LF of sidewalk, 53 curb ramps, and miscellaneous signs and striping.
This project was publicly advertised on June 23, 2019 and June 30, 2019. Twenty (20) firms obtained plans. From these plan holders on July 16, 2019 we received six (6) competitive bids. The low qualified bidder for the project was Choice Builders, LLC of Temple, Texas with a total bid of $855,020.80. Steger & Bizzell have reviewed the current workload, references and construction history of Choice Builders. As a results of the findings Steger & Bizzell recommend the contract be awarded to Choice Builders, LLC.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Steger & Bizzell and staff recommend awarding the contract to Choice Builders, LLC of Temple, Texas for the construction of the Old Town Northeast Sidewalk project in the amount of $855,020.80
